|
|
Its surprising how often in games, 100 health for example is represented as 17096,,,, and 200 health is represented by 17224,,
thats how I look for it in a game I use a lot,,
first scan 17096,,
then either look for a decreased value in next scan,,
or first scan 17096
then get 200 health,, and look for 17224 in the second scan,,,
anyone know of any other common values games use,
if we can get a table of common values,,
it may save a lot of seaching time in some cases,,

Actually, these are floating point values (type:FLOAT)
Just decrease the address with 2 and change the type to float and you'll see.

tried it
run a game in windowed mode so i could watch the values change,,
thanks a lot,,
that'll teach me to be lazy and search for 4 byte values,,,
quake 3 seems to be 8 bytes,,, for health
found the addresses in a byte
and an 8 byte search,,
can't do it in the 4 and float search,,,
-------------------------------------
on another note,,
I'm feeling my way around this pointer thing on CE
can do it on tsearch with easy write,,
but not sure about how to do it on CE
for instance in serious sam se
the line 60326e9f fld[esi+000000cc]
holds the pointer for health
I can do this with easywrite
but am still fiddling about trying to do it with CE
I'll get there in the end,,
thanks again for your help darkbyte

well went through the whole tut again,,
only did it once before,,,
so thats why i forgot,,,,
have too see how well I do in a game with it now,,,
I like the way the more info button gives you the pointer , without any effort by the way,,
very nice,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
----------------------------------
well about this sam pointer ,,,,,,
can you tell me if this is common,,
even though its a float ,,,
and the offset in the code is CC
ie,,
fld [esi+000000cc]
to get the address of the pointer
I had to use the offset CE to find it,,
mind you scrolling around the code in games I've found lots of what looks like code manipulation,,,,
probably a simple method error I'm using again,,
SIGH
have to get out that masm tut and go through it,,
and mabe a little hla would'nt hurt either,,
hee hee ,,
how often has that been going to happen,,,,
anyway I'm enjoying getting to grips with CE,,

well I got the health pointer for sam ,,,,,,,
and posted the table for it,,,
it was so easy finding the pointer using the debugger, I am embarrassed about asking silly questions about it,,,
yep cheat engine makes life really easy,,,
---------------------------------------------
oh and forget all the crap above,,
this post,,
it was really strait forward

I remember i used to hack halo for the PC (my own servers online of course). The shield HP starts off as 16256 (i think) or atleast thats now i remember it. Good times... i'd be in a huge server of mine and the only way i could die is from plasma grenades or a full charge from a plasma rifle followed by more shots. Everyones like WTF I HEADSHOTTED YOU and im like nah.. i woulda been dead
