|
|
Hi!
Recently I've been poking around the Transport Tycoon (Original)'s tycoon.exe some more and have found
even more addresses, but I would really need the memory dump to see how the functions look in assembler.
Could someone please give me a walkthrough in how would I go about making a memory dump of this DOS
game's exe (or any other for that matter )?
Thanks a gob and a bunch.

Thank you very much, Labyrnth. I will try it first thing tomorrow.
Will post back.
BRONiUS - I know I know - I've been playing mostly OpenTTD lately with some TTDPatch inbetween but with DOSBox 0.7.0 - it's so stable and fast that it is a real joy returning to this oldie but goodie.
Without this memory dump I even managed to hex-edit the tycoon.exe (TTO) to have realistic acceleration for trains and road vehicles, more diesel_smoke, no bonus for AI station ratings and more frequent economy changes - but I really need the dump to open it in some IDA-like disassembler to see how I can definitely disable the pesky closures of the industries in the Fluctuating mode of economy. I mean - if you only transport over 50% it is bound to close - that's just too silly IMO.
BTW - I posted a topic bout all this on tt-forums.net under Transport Tycoon Original...
UPDATE: Labyrnth - it didn't work - while Ollydbg is a great proggie, under WinNT (2k, xp) it didn't give me a good dump - it was mixed with ntvdm's...
Do you know for any DOS debugger that would nicely dump the memory of the DOS app into a file?

| rezt0ne - if you're talking about Transport Tycoon Original and you're no stranger to hex editing (free editor for example is XVI32), then here is my post on tt-forums.net ( tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=32598 ).

| Thanks Sirkoz. I play TTD 2.0 rev 1, i was hoping that somehow i can tweak the production of a specific factory/farm/coal mine etc rather than industries across the board. Used cheat engine to find the address for the previous months production of a factory im trying to fiddle, and had a look at what wrote to that address to see if lead me to the factorys current output but no joy.

Oh - I see - you are playing TTD with TTDPatch - there is yet hope for your wishes - even more - there exists a great program by Owen Rudge - admin of tt-forums.net (there's even a huge TTDPatch section there) - the program is called TTDAlter.
Just type in your search engine TTDAlter and you'll find "Owen's Transport Tycoon station" website - the newest version is 4.3 and you can edit many different things with that proggie by just typing some numbers or moving some sliders - it's really a breeze.
For industry output - you have to edit the production_rates.
However - if you want to edit a savegame - try using TTDEdit I'm sure you'll find it, but I'm not so sure if it will work for the Pathc-savegame.
You are better off to just use the TTDAlter on tycoon.exe/TTD.exe
Enjoy.
