Humans weren't well programed to handle power. True, we've always been resourceful, but ultimately it gave birth to technology and continued to sever our ties with nature.

Most humans from the "civilized" world have already forgotten their heritage with nature. I don't think mankind needs a new development that would sever its ties with reality itself.
