85C = 185.0F

Thats ridiculously hot.
Your going to pop a chip.

It is possible your power supply is clogged with dust and cannot cool so it is basically heating up the tower like an oven.

You probably have an overheated home as well.
Turn the heating off and put on a sweater

Well i officially screwed up the CPU processor chip, my dads just going to buy a new computer..

We did clean the heatsink but the CPU processor chip was glued on the back of the heatsink and then when we tried to put it in, the chip got messed up..

We forgot for this computer type, you cant just pull the heatsink off..

Total cost of repairing=$200

Rather buy a new computer

Yea thats way to hot, If you want to know somthign I was playing around some old boxes with 700MMhZ CPUs and over clocked on I forget exactly how much but the cpu and the aluminum heat sink were kinda merged shall I say 10 minutes after the computer quit functioning. It was fun.

my dad just bought a computer, no monitor since he already had 17 inch LCD.. its a Celeron ( enough for his needs, hopefully ) 120gb hardrive 1gb ram 1.6Ghz..
$297

Worst thing is it has vista, and if i remove it, it will also void the warranty Rolling Eyes

We'll try it for 14 days, since hes heard that celerons are hella slow...

What do you think? Are they? Yes i know the Ghz is 1.6.. Doesnt look to bad.. Maybe its cause i just bought it? when it gets older will it slow down?

Celerons are good for Word processing and the Internet, nothing else. Don't expect to run Vista well, that system is the bare minimum. For that type of system, you are best off running XP.

It can run fine at 81F... not 177F though... Which is equal to 81C

Most computers run between 32C-50C... 81C is insane... Even if you running on heavy load.

oh shit... 68 C under full load.
shitty AMD

It's the newer Core2 based celeron so 1.6GHz isn't all that bad. If you put XP on it it'll run just fine for normal tasks, just don't expect too much out of it. It will definitely be faster than that old P4 though.

Just format your HD and install XP.

Your old computer must be way too old. My 2006 Gateway coputer's CPU temperature reaches 45C at max load.

You've already voided the warranty by opening it and fucking with it..if it has a warranty why didn't you just get it taken in for servicing?
