I started out studying computers/IT, but made a switch to psychology halfway through uni. Now I work as a support coordinator for special needs people, primarily with the IDD population (intellectual developmental disorder).

lately I've been making programs to scrape funny apis or mitm-proxies for work, or making programs to read inputs from mics/mouse/etc and transcode/stream them, idk
I love how my job has me always doing "new stuff"

did someone say gunpla... i only started a few months ago. month 1 was buster gunner. month two was providence (really wanted to add the metal etching set that was $20 but i had already spent a lot on the decals despite the model only costing $30 on sale, and currently experiencing my first ver ka with the mg nu gundam of course. near future line up where any of the mentioned models can be the next to be built include mg virtue, mg dual gundam assault shroud, mg aegis, and then there's the obvious ones everyone wants to experience building at least once. anyway, pics related. i've spent significantly longer on my warhammer 40k imperial fist army though.

It's hard work, and long hours, but I end up making more than most college graduates with a masters degree, and with all these new AI data centers popping up, there's so much work for low voltage technicians. It's not even complicated work either, it's just pulling a shit ton of cable and fiber at times, terminating testing and labeling, and I don't have to deal with women in the workplace making life hell for everyone else like all my other jobs in the past lmao. I'm on the path to do design work and project management as well. I want to design A/V systems for studios and stadiums/music venues.

I've worked in hospitality, food service, Corporate offices, construction sites, and remote work.
Women in general, fail to perform in the same capacity as men physically, without men doing the work for them and giving them credit, which many men in all sectors do, to gain brownie points. there are exceptions. Absolutely. I would never deny that, but in general, they just cause more problems. I love women, they have their roles, and men have their roles.

Was a drug and alcohol counselor for 8 years then I decided to go work for Amazon like a fucking retard.
Then I had an opportunity to go and work for someone who pays me way more than I am worth and I am working toward getting my A&P license so I can die wrenching on aircraft.
On track this year to breaking my first $100k.
Glad to see theindianguy is still alive. |
thank you for the kind words and hope to see you continiue kicking ass in life. i'm proud of how far you've come. i've been privileged with a life focused on individual fulfillment; affording myself the ability to pursue creative/intellectual passion(s) as they come and go without being
notice how innovation and drive don't disappear when i remove neceessity, fear, scarcity, and/or survival. instead, progress and innovation evolve new motivations. best case scenario with AI is that it allows for us all to experience my level of freedom.
i'm sorry prison is what it took for you to turn your life around, but i'm glad you got in trouble with the law at an early age considering the higher potential for recovery and rehabilitation the quicker you niip it in the bud so to speak. one might argue prison 'saved' your life. meanwhlie, many narrow escapes and close calls allowed for me to suffer longer than i needed to. with that said, i believe [former] addicts who are able to step away from the bottle and bindle have the ability to tap into superhuman-like abilities, turning former weaknesses commonly associated with addiction into strengths when focused in a positive manner.
risk-taking and obsessive-compulsive behaviors, two well understood and documented traits shared by addicts, are great examples of how resilient and adaptable humans are.
risk-taking behavior, when done right, leads to all sorts of benefits like personal growth by stepping out of your comfort zone, confidence in one's abilities, creating new opportunities, learning new skills, strengthening problem-solving skills, and linked to fewer regrets later in life, etc.
obsessive-compulsive behavior has multiple potential benefits as well including but not limited to a strong work ethic and drive, (think work-a-holics, gym rats with intense workout routines, collecting cards/coins/etc., essentially trading one addiction that is generally harmful and unapproved by mainstream society with one that is approved and generally viewed as a healthier alternative), creativity and unique insights from constantly creating scenarios, and higher levels of empathy and understanding for others struggling resulting from own personal experience and greater understanding.
