See the first post, I am totally open to any suggestions. Make them just not collide? As in, when you run your collision check across objects, don't fire an event or use a collision handler for player on player action. |
The problem is that if I make it so that players can't get past each other, I'm going to have to make pretty huge sidewalks, hallways, etc, like 3-4 character widths to avoid traffic jams. |
So do what Aviar stated, just don't have a collision check for players on players.
Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it too much, the art should be the main focus.

I'm willing to help with architecture and concept art, however, I'm really only skilled with hand-drawn stuff with a graphite pencil or ball-point pen. If I actually DO contribute at all, it would probably be an image of a picture or something. I REALLY need a tablet.

That's perfectly fine. I'd love to get some sketches of a building that you want to come to life in the city.
I'm trying to make a map of the city right now, it's frickin hard to make something that looks natural. I can can see where the phrase "Rome wasn't built in a day" comes from.

By all means. The scale is 31680 pixels/1 mile or 6 pixels/1 foot.
