I'm actually kind of surprised that so many people haven't heard of him, or at least don't know his name. Here's a few of his most well-known works. Hopefully this should help some people jog their memories:

"The Andromeda Strain"
"The Great Train Robbery"
"Congo"
"Sphere"
"Jurassic Park" (he wrote the novel, not the screenplay)
Created the Television Series ER
"The Lost World" (why they veered so off course from what happened in the novel I'll never know).
"Timeline" (Again, another fantastic book that was made into a terrible movie).

He was a brilliant author and a phenomenal researcher. He spent nearly five years researching all the information for "Jurassic Park" and it definitely paid off.

He wrote timeline, I have a new copy of the book here. I actually have the game(NO PUN INTENDED, But I lost) Unopened, I had it from 2000, never opened it. I think I might read the book, then play the game(Hasn't been 30 minutes) then d/l the movie. :3
