Hm, first (and pretty much only) game i hacked on must have been Robot Rage..
I only hack other games to try it out, not to actually cheat, 'cause when you finally reach your objective, you're a lot happier than when you cheat

year was like 2000 or 2001 i used very basic memory editor cheat-o-matic to change population in age of empires I DEMO .lul.

Yeah now they do, but before those things was even done.
It was done like callaw just said. All memory editing and altering the main executable of the game permanently to cheat.
This is why you have so many confused on how to do a regular binary now. Take a look at the thread in trainer releases, one guy posted a step by step tutorial for pinball talking about multiplying by 8. Completely in accurate to do that game.
Ages of Empires was da shit, I did the same thing Cawall lol.
T-Search was the tool.
