I used to wear baggy person with a high concentration of pigment in his skin clothes, but now I wear fitted shits, and even now it's still easy to steal. It actually makes you look less suspicious
Of course there's no way to hide the huge bulge in your pocket, but I usually just act like it's not even there, or start stroking it like it's my penis and they usually don't pay attention

never been caught myself, but ive never stolen anything worth more than 20$ either
i steal a lot of stuff out of places like spencers and such just because it isnt worth paying that much money for something so dumb as a magnet or something

just my way of making myself feel better xD
