I'll probably go for an Intel 2.x Core 2 Duo... and Cheetah, what are you using to cool the CPU?

I'm going to get an E8400. You can probably overclock it on stock cooling to 3.6GHz.

and for only $30 more, you can clock it to 4.0 with the scythe ninja plus B

Big dreams, big dream. I see you're optimistic, but don't be surprised when your CPU doesn't actually overclock to 4GHz that easily. There are many factors when overclocking a CPU, don't forget that.

I would normally say quad hands down, no exceptions, but....

Well I got an E2140 that comes stock at 1.6GHz, and it's running at 4.35GHz, gave me a little more faith in dual cores, let's see a quad get that high(and it's a 65nm chip too not the new Wolfdale.)

Dual if you upgrade often, quad if you wanna be future proof. Most likely you won't use the extra cores of the quad but it'll be nice to have down the road.

Can you show me your CPU-Z Verification? That's really hard to believe. 4.35Ghz on a E2140.

Absolutely. The BIOS is corrupted from a bad flash but I have a new board on the way, I'll posts the result probably monday.

And madman, it's aircooled believe it or not. I'm not sure of the model of the heatsink, it's a huge 478one(made by arctic cooling) that I modified to fit my board, and it has a high flow 92mm sunon fan on it. The case has 4 92mm fans in the front, and 3 in the back.

Board is a DFI Infinity p965-s, RAM is 4GB Corsair XMS 1066 @ 5-5-5-12.

Yes... Basically quad core is not that worth it to get it yet. Not many programmes supports multi-thread yet. Especially 4 cores.

But if you wanna zip/rar faster, then it's quad core XD

Go and get an E8400~
