1. They talked to a mayan historian and he said that american tourists keep reading the prediction wrong thinking it means teh end of the world, but it means a new beginning (liek how we have new years)

Well for one thing, the prediction doesent say that it will be the end of the world literaly. it says something more allong the lines of "It will be the end of the world as we know it." That could be a great number of things but that just means a sudden and drastic change.

And as far as the mayan calendar is concerned, I more believe they the guy who was making it just said "Fuck it, some one else can do it if they want".

With global warming, scientists have evidence that the earth has gone though many climate changes in the past, and nature isn't exactly always routine.

And look at the Large Hadron Collider, people were panicking because they thought that it was gona create black holes and destroy the earth.

All this shit got started when people misinterpreted the ending of the Mayan calendar. Yes it ends in 2012. Guess what? The calendar in your house probably ends in December, does that means it's the end of the world? No, a new fucking calendar starts.

2012 is the beginning of a new era, one of peace and understanding, not death and destruction. But people on the internet will find any reason they can to be scared over nothing, even if there's absolutely no basis behind it.

Same as LHC, scientists were saying it was safe, yet random people on the internet with no qualifications were freaking the fuck out, because they thought they had it all figured out.

IF a black hole were to be created, it would take 10,000 years to absorb 1/10th of a gram of matter, yet people who will live a max of 100 years are freaked out about it? Why?
