Which of these cpu should i get?

AMD Athlon™64 X2 5600+ Dual-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology

(Sckt775)Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6850 CPU @ 3.00GHz 1333FSB 4MB L2 Cache 64-bit

(Quad-Core)Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz 1066FSB 8MB L2 Cache 64-bit

The AMD is a little bit cheaper, the both intel are the same price.

Edit : Also, should i pay 89$ for XP or i just order it with a formated hd and i install a non-guinine version of XP found on a warez site(Does these version can be harmfull to my pc?)

I would go for the quad core and try my luck at overclocking.

And if I have no idea how to overclock it? Or maybe It's just that I don't want to overheat my brand new cpu.

Depends on what you want. The AMD chip is out of the question.

E6850 (get an E8400): current games
Q6600: Multi-tasking, games that utilize 4 cores

1. it's pretty hard to fuck up an overclock on a cpu, read a guide and go for it.

2. no chip is guaranteed to get to any speed.

How about the one your mother board supports.
you just go by a cpu and it is not made for the board you just wasted your time.

Q6600, definitely.
By the way, it seriously isn't hard to get a pirated Windows Vista ($600 you save if you get ultimate...), but if you really want XP then you should get it pirated because. at the end of the day, its as good as the real one and you save money, so you can go buy yourself candy or something with those $85...

EDIT: And overclocking isn't that hard either. Find a guide and do it, you shouldn't have any problems.

It's better for multitasking and such. But new game releases will utilize the full potential of quad cores. Right now most games run better on dual core. But that will change soon. Personally, I see quad cores as an investment for the future. Two cores are going to die out in about a year or two anyways.
