Perhaps a dumb question but is it possible for a game to control all characteristics eg char stats , hp, sp , calculating how much damage or player deatch etc on the server so that we are left only with client side manipulation which is pretty useless most time. I am newbie to game programming so please help out here

yea... maybe not completely, but to the extent where it would be retarted to even try hacking because there is jack shit you could do

Just thought ok . Are we now saying that the hacking community has lost to game developers or are there some ingenious ways to get past these defences.... barring of course hacking the servers
