Has anybody figured out or detailed how exactly to run CE native on linux? There is an alternative specifically for Linux, however not nearly as comprehensive or useful. I've been googling around a little and found a guide on how to use Scanmem/Game Conqueror and ceserver in conjunction with Wine in order to run it. If not, I wonder how Darkbyte would feel about "porting" it to Debian based distros, or someone like me doing it. I suppose I'll have to actually read the legalese and maybe try to contact him.

CE is open source.
Fork it, port it, test it, when done, contact DB to see about merging it.

You can run CE under Wine then create your own ceserver instance that is made for Linux memory handling that just communicates back to the main CE process. Similar to how it works for Android.

You can find the source here:

You can also check out PINCE which is a front end for GDB aimed at game hacking and based around some of CEs features/code:

Since I've found CE server to not work as intended, this is my work around.
You need to run Cheat Engine using wine on the same prefix as the game, So what you want to do is:
1. Download protontricks using its github instructions
2. Run protontricks --gui
3. select your game
4. Select continue with default prefix
5. Select run Winecfg
6. Go to graphics -> Check emulate virtual desktop - set the desktop size ( you might have to mess around to get it right )
This is how i did it but there may be an easier way using protontricks
7. In the bottom left go; start -> Add/Remove Programs -> Install -> change Files of type to Programs(*.exe)
8. You will most likely have to find cheat engine, if it is in your normal downloads folder go to; the "/" folder or "Z:" drive -> home -> {username} -> Downloads This works for me and is fully functional with cheat tables as far as i can tell.
9. You should be able to see it when you disable fullscreen and minimize
