ok, i know i had an account for this sight but I guess I lost it. anyway, ive been using ce for a VERY long time (cant remember the version) but due to being a VERY slow learner & old man brain all I've ever really known is how to use ce tables & change numbers in games (money, exp, levels, health etc) so yesterday I tried to so my daughter how to do this using hogwarts legacy (inc the money by 999999) it wouldn't work. i tried for a half hour and no luck. so I tried another game sims 4, same deal. then I discover there's a new version (7.5) I missed, I have 7.4 I'm making a wild guess that may have something to do with it. I'm apparently I'm doing it right I've watched 3 youtube tutorials all 3 lead me down the same ending, I just cant turn $1000 into $999999 with ce when I put the numbers in like I have a thousand times nothing happens. so fine, maybe I need to update, (makes no sense to ME but if it works what do I care right?) except when I click the download button like I havespaghetti monsterknow how many times before, nothing happens. i click dozens of times & same thing. i open in a new tab & it acts like I have no internet (eventually) I close norton & pop up blocker, no change. i try firefox no change. so all that leads me here. can anyone help me with this wierdness please? or am I just borked? BTW: cheat tables work fine, (unless there outdated obvouslly) I just cant edit numbers (as I call it ) also, so sorry for the essay question.

Something is trying to "protect" you from downloading CE. I don't know what it is and can't really make any good guesses. There should be little if any difference between 7.4 and 7.5 in terms of simple value scanning.

Check the CE tutorial ("Help" menu in CE). If you can get past step 2, it's the games that are problematic.

It could be a different type. e.g. double instead of 4 byte.
Values can be obfuscated, or stored in a way that isn't intuitive. Changed and unchanged scans might find something. You can try freezing values to see if they work, but this will likely end up crashing the game when done carelessly.
Values can be copied around in memory arbitrarily. If this happens, you can't simply scan for it.

so i got past step 2 in the tutorial, & was able to get it to work on the money in grim dawn, still cant get it to work in hogwarts though, (tried the double option) don't know enough about ce to know what to do beyond that. is it possible for ce to just not work on some games? it would be a 1st for me but its all I can think of but I barely know anything about the subject. also I tried to get my daughter to do the tutorial so she would know how to use it better than me but the bar on step 3 was really confusing for both of us. so at least we have step 2 lol.

I wouldn't say CE "just doesn't work" but more so the game may not conform to typical standards. e.g. don't blame a flat head screwdriver for not working with some esoteric screw with a proprietary recess. You might be able to finagle with a tool and get it to work in a situation it wasn't designed for, but don't expect it to work well.

For step 3 in the tutorial, try unknown initial value and changed / unchanged value scans. There are plenty of videos that will walk you through it. e.g.:

ok will do ty vm, 1 last question though (hopefully lol) do you have any clue what could be "protecting" me from ce? or am I likely sol until I I trip over it some day & have a eurika moment? lol

Not sure. It's probably some antivirus you installed that's acting more like a virus. "Disabling" some antiviruses doesn't actually disable them.

It could also be your browser, or maybe even an overzealous ISP (e.g. DNS blocking).
