i am currently playing a game and i am running its cheat table on cheat engine 7.1. i have been using cheat engine 7.1 on my laptop since oct 2020

i noticed that if i enable some cheat options in the cheat table and then i disable them then i am seeing the blue windows spinning circle icon next to the mouse pointer and then the game is crashing and exiting on its own. the issue is just happening when i enable and disable 2 cheat options and it's not happening when i enable and disable the other cheat options

i tested cheat engine 7.4 on another laptop and i enabled and disabled those 2 cheat options. the game didn't crash and exit

after that i noticed that if i first run the game launcher and i click play to start the game then the game doesn't crash and exit if i enable and disable those 2 cheat options if i am using cheat engine 7.1. the issue is only happening if i run the game exe file directly from the game folder and then i enable and disable those 2 cheat options if by using cheat engine 7.1. i have been running game exe file directly from the game folder when i used cheat engine 7.4

what do those things mean? is the crashing happening because of a bug in cheat engine 7.1 or it's due to the coding of the script in the cheat table and cheat engine 7.4 is interpreting the coding differently than cheat engine 7.1 so the fault is with the cheat table and not with cheat engine 7.1?

i doubt that it's due to a bug in cheat engine 7.1. as i said i have been using it since oct 2020 and i ran a lot of cheat tables in cheat engine 7.1 and the games never crashed when i enabled and disabled cheat options and this is the first time that the issue has happened

download newest version of cheat engine (it might help you)
assembly script can actually crash the game since something is not right in the script, or maybe call isn't right or not supported format

without seeing the script we can't say

but there are some bugs in 7.1 that are fixed in 7.4. (e.g wrong encodings, bad memory address allocation for prefered addres, createthread issue, and other stuff i may have forgotten.

also 7.3+ added {$luacode} and {$ccode} blocks which 7.2< will just blindly ignore so that will cause issues as well
