I'm toying with Access Virus TI control (a digital synthesizer) and I want one of the values to be higher than the programmed 127 limit. I'm sure the DSP of the synth can handle it, but whenever I use cheat engine to change the number - nothing happens, because the interface needs to "update", and by moving the slider, the number goes back to one of its natural values 0-127. I want to make it past 127.
How can i circumvent this? I'm looking to update the program somehow or maybe increment the values by more than its programmed 1 step when using the slider.

Sorry if this is one of the most common traps when using Cheat Engine, cause I feel like it is.

If the data type was programmed to be a signed character, changing it would basically entail rewriting the entire program. It could be hardware/firmware related too- if the software control directly communicates to the synthesizer and the synthesizer only takes values 0-127, then that's the limit and CE won't help you out at all. You could get the firmware for the board and start reverse engineering that, but that would be extremely difficult.

After finding a value (even if it's only UI related), find out what instructions access it. One of them could be in an "onUpdate" callback that does important stuff. Again, no guarantee this important stuff is anything that you could change (e.g. I/O to synthesizer)

By far the easiest solution would be to use something else. Maybe talk with the developer and ask to increase that limit, but that's not guaranteed to go anywhere. (if it's open source, you could look into it yourself)
Maybe post-processing could help? I don't know anything about synthesizers, sorry.
