there is currently a PSN (pointerscan network) server active at:
host:pointerscan.cheatengine.org
no password

limit on result found per session is 10000 and max time is half an hour (ce should auto-reconnect unless someone else is queued)

I recommend using multiple scandata files so the results found are useful to you. (waste of bandwidth/diskspace otherwise)

Also, I don't recommend marking this server as trusted. That way if something goes wrong, you won't lose paths. (on too long disconnect and untrusted it gives up on the server and does the work queue item itself, with trusted, it would never give up and gives multiple random workitems at once)

Can you please explain what the benefits are for using this? Based on the cap, I'm not quite sure that I understand its usage.

It's beneficial as it's another 12 cpu cores that are processing the pointerscan data. (And i can add more servers in a chain or web if i like)

The cap is only in effect when multiple people want to make use of this. After half an hour it checks if someone else wants to scan, and if so sends you the data and handles the other person's data

Also, if you properly use scandata files 10000 results is an extremely high amount of results

Yup. It's shares the workload.

Only drawback is that the pointerdata files need to be sent to the server first, so usually a local network is prefered. But if you have a high upload speed this is a usable solution

I wonder how this would work if hundreds of CE users could volunteer their PC's as part of a community network to help carry the processing work? Would there be any real benefit to that?

I actually don't use the pointer scanner anymore, but when I did, there were two, obvious downfalls - processing time and disk space.

disk space is resolved with the use of pointermap files (rescan is done as soon as a result is found)

and processing time can be resolved if you have a server farm, or hundreds of CE users

I suppose that's neat, but by the time i get to upload the data and it gets distributed to others, my system is so much faster than this and it's done before the server has time to bring back results.

Maybe this will be handy to those using cheat engine on a 5 year old $200 netbook with a gig of ram or something, or working on extremely huge files.
