Of all the big artists I've looked into, there's never been one I don't understand as much as Matisse. Why do people praise him so much? His art all looks so childish and shitty to me.

Compared to something like Van Gogh or Picasso:





It's possible I just don't "get it", but I really don't see why Matisse is so widely acclaimed.

I agree. Van Gogh does it perfectly, Matisse is like a five year old.
