|
|
So I'm trying to mem edit MGS V and Mad Max (both with Denuvo DRM) and my PC slows down. I,then, noticed that whenever I search for an address the game's RAM usage skyrockets until my RAM's 99% full. The RAM usage stays after the search so I have to restart the game whenever I get the address I'm looking for. This doesn't happen with other games so my guess is this could be because both games are protected by Denuvo. I'm not sure about my theory so I'm asking you guys for confirmation
Edit : Can anyone do the same thing and monitor the game's RAM usage?

Haven't noticed anything like that. Those games are pretty resource-intensive so if your PC has low specs a mem search will slow your whole PC down (including the games).
Denuvo fortunately has nothing to do with gamehacking, if it did you wouldn't see any trainers for it.

It's because it's a big game. Just give it 15 minutes for the less frequently accessed memory regions to get paged out to disk(The scan triggered windows to fetch the inactive memory making it page out some frequently accessed regions)
also, it's recommended to have at least twice the amount of RAM that is recommended for the game

The problem is the game's RAM usage doesn't flush out so I have to restart the game everytime or else the game would stutter a lot. Cheat engine's search is super slow and searching for a pointer takes ages to complete. All because I'm all out of RAM space.
I only have 4GB RAM but these two games are the only games that do this. The scenario is MGS V/Mad Max has 1-1.5GB RAM usage then when I search for a single value, RAM usage shoots up to 3.5GB and stays there. So I have to relaunch the game —__— . Games that use 2-3GB of RAM don't even do this

Install cheatengine on a drive with lots of space. I also have only 4Gb and don't experience any issues.
CE uses the hdd for searches (temporarily) and you can quickly run out of space depending on the game's memory size.
Also make sure you are not running chrome etc. in background and disable antiviruses or completely uninstall if possible. They make everything terribly slow when they shouldn't be by scanning for useless things, even windows defender can do this.

| Do you have MGS V or Mad Max, STN? Can you do what I do and monitor RAM usage of the game. I have a lot of free space on my HDD and as I said, only these two games do this kind of thing

Both but i am not sure how that can help you since my computer setup is going to be completely different than you. I don't use any sort of security software whatsoever even have windows defender disabled after i noticed it was scanning every new thing i downloaded/extracted etc. If i install an AV (sometimes for scanning/testing trainers), my PC doesn't feel like mine anymore, its slow as fuck so if you have an AV installed, there's your answer.
Anyhow, i just did a search, my cpu/ram/disk usage all went to 95-100%. CPU and disk went back to normal after the search, next search did the same. And yeah the ram usages stays at 3.4 of 3.9GB usable RAM and stayed this way until i closed the game (closing CE didn't help). All of this was with MPC playing a video song and Opera running in background which eats considerable amount of memory as well.
I can use my PC fine after a search and its my HDD really that chokes and causes the bottleneck.
PS: This is my PC ( The MSI is a beast and only reason i can still play and hack games ). It has been due for an upgrade the year i bought it lol

Yeah, that's what I meant. I have to relaunch the game so the RAM usage will flush and play normally again. So it's unique to these 2 games, after all. Denuvo, perhaps?
Also, I haven't been using antivirus for years too because of the exact same reason you have.

Not really denuvo, all games do this for me at least the AAA titles, the worst was Watch dogs which heavily relied on CPU (weaker than my GPU) versus the GPU like other games so it was a nightmare to play and train.
You should be able to use your PC fine for other things though with the game in background, if not then i guess your specs are way terrible than mine and you should upgrade.

it will eventually "flush" (page in the game, page out useless stuff like 2d graphics)
Just have the game in the foreground and let it sit for an hour
alternatively, enable kernelmode query memory regions. That will only scan memory that has been paged in, so shouldn't activate useless memory regions
trying to explain paging can be difficult: http://cheatengine.org/mantis/view.php?id=407

Read the posts above, you will then know why this happens.
