you angle it so that the stand itself isn't facing you directly, but rather off to the side in the middle. if you can imagine where normal dual monitors are, the gap in between their two stands is where this one would go. the one that faces you directly would be angled from the stands position
turns out my main monitor does not have vesa mounts, but im still going to use the stand because my other monitor (shitty tv) does not have a stand what so ever and is unusable (I used to have a clamp on desk swivel arm for it, but I got a new desk where that is not able to be used)
