The first arc is a reboot of Battle of Gods, except with horrible pacing and dreadful animation.

The animation standard is waaaay higher than what it used to be.
Dragon Ball Z was never known for it's animation quality.

the animation is in both directions. good and bad. but mostly bad.
gf and i watched kai, now we're watching dbz for the buu saga.
we've also watched bog and are watching dbspr. she hasn't seen any of it before. we've already watched dragon ball; still the best of the series, hands down.

So far, here is my angry fan rant:

Voice acting: The voice acting for several characters are atrocious, specifically King Kai. King Kai's mouth starts flapping excitedly, and his voice actor just speaks boring monotone. That is just poor voice acting performance. Not only that, but why does a 35 year old muscled out Goku sound like my constipated grandmother? What's up with the casting?

Sound: Where are the cool OSTs (Original Sound Tracks)? When Goku transforms and fights, we should hear a soundtrack! But we don't! Even the times when we do get soundtracks playing in the background, they seem generic and bad mood setting. Maybe I wouldn't have gotten so caught up in looking how bad the fight looked in episode 5 if a good soundtrack playing in the background would distract us. Goku's fight with Beerus would have been much more epic if they had a good epic soundtrack.

Pacing: The story is moving at a sluggish pacing. 5 episodes X 24 minutes = 120 minutes! If you look at Battle of Gods, we are only like 30 minutes into this movie! Chances are if you are watching Super, you have already seen BoG movie, so watching Super is just a waste of time.

Story Changes:They "changed" a few plot points, but they didn't change them for the reasons that you think. They made changes just so they can waste time and milk this arc. Why do you think Bulma's party is now on a ship? Because when Beerus crashes the party, you can waste screen time by showing us the boat sinking like the titanic and the characters without powers like Bulma and Pilaf struggling to stay on the ship. These changes are not geared to making the story better, but only to making the story longer.

Animation/Art: The animation might be the most disappointing part. Episode 1 was decent, I'll give it that. But episodes 2-3 looked like animated GIFs slapped on a powerpoint. There were way too many still motionless frames and the characters just looked wonky. Episode 4 was just weird with the thick line art. Episode 5 was atrocious in every aspect. The horrible animation is by far the worst in episode 5, as that is where all the screen shots I posted in this thread came from.

As a fan who has bought the DVD boxsets and attended Dragon Ball movies in theaters, I can say Dragon Ball Super has been a total let down so far.
