I've found the address for locking in first person view with binoculars, but I can't for the life of me find the pointers for it.

I've tried doing it manually, but after I get the first pointer (which still activates the view lock), no more pointers show up when I click "Find out what writes to this address", which as I understand it is a way to find the next pointer.

In the pic, ignore the first 2 addresses as they constantly write. The next 2 addresses are triggered when I use the binoculars, and the next 2 are triggered when I let off the binoculars. I'm not even sure which one will lead me down the right path.

Doing pointer scans leads me to way too many results and I've had no luck in narrowing them down with rescans despite restarting my computer and the game.

There's something I'm missing here. What am I doing wrong?

Line 4 and 6 look like the trigger and untrigger. Therefore rbx+10 at that position can be assumed to be a trigger which only occurs if you perform an action in game.

Find out what address rbx+10 points to and find out what creates that address. Create a pointer from whatever populates rbx+10 and bob's your uncle.

Why don't you simply use "pointer scan" feature?

Right click your address and choose "pointerscan for this address"

Use the default settings, wait, do recans..... How? Use forum search, it was explained many times.

As I explained in my original post, I was having a hard time narrowing the results down with pointer scan.

"Doing pointer scans leads me to way too many results"

Define too many.

If you have about 50-150 pointers, after 5th,6,7 or 10th rescan, it is perfectly fine. Just pick one.
Of course, only when you did (re)scanning the right way.
Rebooting PC, trying different PC, trying different save slot, is a must.

Always start with 'max level" set to 1, then if nothing found:
- max level 2, ending offset 10, and at least few rescans (PC rebooting, etc.)

then
- max level 3, ending offset 10, and rescans

then
- max level 4, ending offset 10, and rescans

Thanks for the pointerscan advice, that was all I needed. A lot of the other resources and video tutorials complicated scanning to the point where I was overthinking it.

Found a couple pointers I needed within a single scan. I appreciate it.

Sometimes, single scan is enough. But, I strongly recommend doing rescans.

Real life example:
max level 7, ending offsets 5DC, 1BC
after few rescans I have 83 pointers.

I took all files created with "pointerscan" from last rescan and sent it to hosting site.

Kryptos1018 rescanned them (also user Match made some rescans and tests):
http://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?p=5426148#5426148
16 pointers left. He uploaded his results.

Then, I rescanned those again - I created new Windows account and started new game, rescanned.

About 8 pointers left:

And I'm using this pointer up to this day:
'[[[[[[base]+40]+190]+6A4]+68]+5DC]+1BC'

When I was searching for this pointer, the game version was 1.1.3. Now, version is 1.8.3 and pointer is still valid.

Of course the base of pointer is changing after game update. But, this is a different story.
