Yeah, it's called ghost producing duhh!! lol.
It's when someone else makes a track and sells all the rights to it to a big namer. The big namer then takes all credit for it as if they had in fact created it themselves.
Like the artist EDX(Maurizio Colella) for example [I wonder if he named himself after the EDX register! lol]
Well anyway I discovered basically any track that I liked supposedly by him was in fact not produced by him at all. Instead he has a ghost producer who makes his shit for him. So technically it isn't really his work, and it's not just him who does this type of thing lots of artists do it, so just something to take note of.
I'm one for giving credit where credit is due, so this was disappointing to learn for me.
So next time you hear a track you like from one of your liked artists, just remember that the credit for it might be due to a hidden third party instead

i heard of ghost writing, but ghost producing is really low. I can understand having a separate producer if youre a rapper but if youre doing instrumental stuff and just buying others work thats stupid and I dont know why anyone would even listen to that artist in the first place
and i known no artist i listen to has anything like that

Mike Will has the
EarDrummers, who basically are signed under him and ghost produce with him, so it isn't impossible that he could be hired doing that.

You're a film fan... what's the analogue do? As far as I know, the primary responsibility of a producer is to provide funding.

well in film, yeah the person attaches their name to it to give it more attention and funds it , but in music the producer is the one actually making the music, and the rappers just rap over the beat. producer in music can also refer to the person doing the mastering and stuff on the finished product, so its 2 different things.
you dont really call electronic music producers "artists" (well you can, but not often are they referred to in that way), theyre just called producers. like dubstep producer, not dubstep artist. idk why this is the case, its just kind of how it goes, its not 100% of the time but pretty often
