Hello everyone, I am having a horrible problem with my computer crashing after trying to attach a debugger on the game (I've tested this out on assaultcube with the same results so it isn't any protection from the game that's causing this) I received an error message containing the words "memory overrun" which I assume is like buffer overflow? I would appreciate any help you guys could offer!
Thanks, Andrew. |

If you are using 64-bit and kernelmode debugger, it will cause bsod. If not, you should post more info (your OS, debugger settings, etc). _________________

Windows 7 64-bit
Cheat engine 6.4 64-bit
Under debugger options my settings are:
Hardware Breakpoints.
Replace incomplete opcodes with nops.
Ask for replace with nop.
Override existing breakpoints when setting breakpoints.
Use windows debugger.
Try to prevent detection of the debugger.
Is there anything else you guys need to know? |

Try out the VEH debugger too.
And I recommend to use something simple, like the CE tutorial for testing. _________________

Tested with the CE tutorial, or with the game? _________________

You don't need to go through it. Just try to use the debugger on it. Just get to the step where you need to find some value and check if you can find the code that is accessing to the value. Or just attach the debugger to it and see what happens. _________________

That can happen with certain games. This is why I said to try it with the CE tutorial. _________________

A few things you can try:
1. Try to use the 32-bit version (cheatengine-i386.exe).
2. Check anti-vir. Disable it, maybe uninstall it until you try out the debugger again.
3. You can try to use DBVM, though I have no idea if that would help, but it's worth a try.
And try to shut down unnecessary processes. Maybe another software is messing up something in CE.
Or just wait until Dark Byte will suggest something better. _________________

Make sure you have no online games running. Not even when you use it on the tutorial
Besides that, if you have overclocked your system lower the speed back to default. Perhaps your overclock breaks the debugging capability of the cpu (most benchmarks don't test that)
And it could be a faulty bios firmware, so see about an bios update _________________

Wrong, online games boot your account for using the third party software(ie cheat engine for WoW), but don't actually affect the third party software running on your system. It's illegal for the game to bar other services you have on your PC. _________________

It didn't stop nprotect gameguard from rebooting/bsoding your system on purpose when it detected a trace of CE _________________
