Apparently they did 'cause my American cousin is a huge fan of his, don't know exactly how famous he is over there though.
He won like 8 awards 3 days ago at the Music Industry Awards (which is like the Belgian MTV Awards).
It surprises me that he's popular in Holland too, seeing as nobody there understands French, or even Belgian Dutch.

I understood bits and pieces of 'Formidable' before seeing the clip, but my French is terribad. Same goes for Papaoutai. All I get is that he keeps asking where his dad is, and what he is like or something. That's all I get from the lyrics.

Why? The songs I posted are quite awesome, even if you don't understand shit of it.

people in america only care about lyrics, they listen to everything out of laptop speakers, their shitty beats headphones, or on the radio, so if they cant understand the lyrics they automatically dislike it.

i cant think of any songs that are big here that aren't in english, its probably never happened

Awful people. Whenever I spoke Dutch in their presence and they think it's German (because it sort of resembles each other I suppose), and they turn incredibly biased and hateful. Like they stare at you, ignore any question you ask them, or even swear at you in French. They also often refuse to speak English because they feel French is the best language there is. And finally, they are terrible drivers. They don't give a flying fuck about anyone when they are inside their cars. If you are pedestrian or biker you are pretty much fucked. Even inside a car it's dangerous. When I went skiing in France one of those fuckers almost drove us off a cliff. Didn't even stop to check if we were ok after slipping over the icy road and coming to a halt. Incredibly arrogant in general as well.

Quite narrow-minded. I listen to tracks from any country. Music is universal even when there is singing involved in my opinion. There is more to it than deriving emotions from lyrics. There is intonation, vibration, volume, and other aspects that convey a message or emotion. You are missing out on a part of your cultural development if you dismiss music solely based on the fact that you can't understand the lyrics. Taking into account how many people have been singing 'Moulin Rouge' I would actually encourage anyone to always look up the translation of a song.

I heard there was quite a commotion over the Coca-Cola commercial in different languages at the Super Bowl as well. All I thought upon hearing that Americans flipped out was 'Narrow-minded, uncultured swines.'.

Omg that are Italians. Italians are bad drivers, think that everyone should know their language. When I went to the itally to get nutella (because their nutella is the best they use their secret recipe since the company that makes nutellas (ferrero) is based in Italy) some driver broke our rearview mirror and just drove off.

British's are arrogant on some other way.
Also you broke quoting system

Well, it's true that a lot of French people are very chauvinistic, but France is a big country. The South is completely different from the North. I once went hitchhiking around the South of France for a week, met a lot of very nice, helpful and generous people. Got free meals, free places to crash and a lot of times we didn't even have to ask for it, people just saw us walking around with our huge backpacks asking for directions, and offered us their help. Basically all of the people who gave us a ride gave us their phone number afterwards and told us to call them if we needed help with anything, and said that if we'd ever come back we'd always be welcome to have dinner at their house and stay over for the night.

However yeah, I have met some annoying French people too (not on that trip, but on music festivals). The funny thing is that when I talked to them in French they were all like "Oh finally someone who speaks French! None of the other people even do any effort at all to speak French to us!" but then I'm like "Dude, you're the one who's in another country, you're the one who should be trying to speak Dutch." It's like they don't understand this.

Likewise though, I've met some fucking dicks from Holland on music festivals too, but met a lot of nice and helpful people when bicycling across Holland.

i don't do it, just everyone else does, and if you try to introduce anyone to anything that isn't top 40 music they don't give a fuck. people also refuse to watch movies from other countries that have subtitles, and fashion is nearly non-existent. america has no culture except muh mcdonalds. no one in america reads for enjoyment either. and no one gives a fuck about world news.

people did get pretty mad about the super bowl ad, thats another thing too, the only sports most americans watch are all american too.

personally ill listen to any music regardless of origin, same with movies, and food, and about anything else. and of course everyone isn't this way, but america is pretty isolated, compared to europe where everyone is so close to each other.

Glad to hear man, hope you liked the songs then Smile. Have to say that isolation isn't really an excuse. Most of Europe is aware of what happens in the USA.

Croats are the same. E.g Croatia voted to add definition of marriage as union between man and women in constitution. Only 63% of 30% that went voting voted to add that law. So basically 55000 people made Croatia homophobic country. My point is that only small percentage of population can be idiotic and make whole country look idiotic.

This is incorrect.

K-Pop and J-Rock are pretty big on the west and east coast of the US, otherwise you are correct.
