United States has no long term plan. Look at the trillions of debt. The politicians just make hundreds of short term plans to make it seem like they are doing a good job while they are in office. They don't do long term goals, they don't matter to their image.

You forget the US can just default at the perfect moment when other countries have no more use to it. What are they going to do start a war with a country who values guns more than lives? It is Starcraft strategy, the current central bank of the US is pretty much implementing a long term large scale Ponzi scheme. Raise debt limit, borrow more, from where? from thin air of course. They monopolized the country's only means of free money ("printing"). Though as for the politicians, they're a lost cause.

they just make sure nobody could fight them without it being not worth it at all and maintain that state; debt will never matter if nobody enforces it
