Hey guys, I just bought Blackguards from Steam.
I'm hacking it myself, managed to find gold and AP values, but for some reason the values keep reverting or they change.

Like for the values for the level up points: any value above 255 it becomes a smaller number. For example, 384 becomes 89 or something? It doesn't reflect the change. I tried freezing it too, no go.

Also, for gold values, it reverts back to the original value when I go back to the game. I also tried freezing it as well.

Any ideas how to fix it? Any advice would be appreciated.

You could try freezing it in the memory region by adding // in the beginning of the codes. This usually works but also has a chance to crash the game.

It sounds like you may be trying to address a one-byte field as a multi-byte field. If the game only allocates one byte to the value you're hacking, then the allowable range is going to be 0-255 or -127-128. Alternatively, you may be looking at the mantissa in some floating point scheme. Try looking at some code that accesses your variable to get a better idea of how many bytes it might be and how it is manipulated.

I've been having issues with Blackguards too. Did you ever manage to come up with something?

Sorry for the late reply, no I haven't managed to come up with anything yet.

kik444, how do you add the "//"? I opened up the memory region and double clicked it, but it only said "I don't understand"

Try hacking the number of arrows and sell them to merchant
That might help Smile 8 bytes
Total skill points number 4 bytes

In case you hadn't made any progress, I figured I'd mention that modifying the gold needs to be done in thalers. There's probably an easier way, but I got my money down to 3 thalers then sold 1 arrow at a time for 1 thaler apiece and finally found the 2 values governing it. So Ducats only exist as a multiple of their thaler count. 200000 thalers is 2000 ducats.

The APs seem to be governed by two values. One is the character image value and the other seems to be the character screen value.

The entries governing AP seem to change each time you restart, so I have had to re-find them each time I started the game from desktop.

I only just sorted out the gold thing today, so I don't know if the same rule applies.

Silver thalers didn't work for me, did you mean Farthings? Using your arrow method with farthings worked. 200,000 farthings = 2000 Ducats Smile

edit - doesn't seem to work anymore with the full steam release Sad

It does work if you search for the item you own, instead of the money itself (with full steam release).

My advice: Use Bear traps - they cost one ducat each. Basically buy one, scan for 4byte value, then buy another until you have like 4. Sell one and you should have found one single 4byte value which is the amount in your inventory. Set the value to 8000 and sell them all. Then do the same tactic with provisions as they are worth more. So again buy until you have a single 4byte value. Then change to 8000 and freeze the value. Keep selling until you believe you have enough. Each sale should give you about 1500 ducats Twisted Evil.

Remember to unfreeze and then sell almost all of them to avoid the weight in the inventory. Wink

Just wanted to share, I just got the official release and tinkered with it.

Cheat Engine works normally for the AP in character creation in Expert Mode in the beginning. Just find the five values (I think it was five) which reflects the AP.

So far I don't have anything for the other values. Will share as soon as I see anything.

Cheating the money is easy, you just search for any of the money value, search until you find the value, and then browse to the address region and change the value for the gold one.

AP is just a matter of search the value until you find the correct one and then change it.

EDIT: Its basically just search and then edit. nothing tricky about it
