So the new update is out ruining my pointer table for the old version, I tried scanning for the new address. However, this time, non of them are stable. No pointer shows up the same on next load. I think this is the end for pointer scanning for Terraria, sigh...
Anyone figured out the trick?

Try higher structsizes and levels. (And remember to never click stop)
And make sure steam.dll is not in the commonmodules list
And do a pointerscanner while being in the game for a while so steam has been given addresses of certain objects

The last time I had stable pointers, they were 6 levels deep (this was before 1.2.0), and even then they'd waver so they weren't useful for locking, just keeping in the table for debugging. I just use aobscans to edit assembly for most of my stuff nowadays.

| I am trying to find the buffs which in 1.2.1.2 I used 5 Levels and a max offset of 8000. They were stable somewhat, now though, its not. It takes almost 20 GB of space to do a full scan with 6 levels and something that high.

Only 20 gig? I have problems when I start pushing a terabyte.
Have you tried lowering the offset (500 - 700), and increasing the levels?
Although, if disk space is an issue, I suppose it won't matter much. You could try a different machine/drive, or have someone do the scan for you.

Look in this table for the buff you want. For examples findTreasure, the offset is 386. So when doing a pointer scan for that address, tell the scanner than the last offset is +386. This will help cut down on the number of results.
A max offset of 1024 (for entries in that table that don't have an offset listed as more than 400) and a depth of 6 should theoretically get it.
But yeah, with a non-huge amount of RAM and a standard HDD, big pointer scans can take ages and all sorts of disc space.

This is an interesting find, I lowered the max offset to 1024, and im gonn push it to 8 and up...hoping i find it. Last time I did this with 1.2 and 1.2.1.2 I only needed 2048 and 5 levels...looks like this update really did push things to hell and back...Thanks, i will let you know on the progress.
Edit: Nada, did 8 Levels with 1024 offset, and it came up with over 500 Million results, restarted computer, restarted terraria, a few came back, however, after doing a rescan for over 10 times. All pointers, resulted to null. In other words, no pointers are stable...
Wow...I hate this new version of Terraria.

| What do you need the pointers for, anyway? Really, you can just inject code and get all of the values that you need.

i'm not advanced with that stuff pointers is what I have been using for all games to find the static address of things like: Health, ammo, mana, etc.
So I don't have to go searching for it everytime I start the game again.

I was about to post a lengthy explanation on how you could go about finding the addresses for all buffs/durations the "just inject code" way, but I'm so inactive (lol) on these forums that I can't post images/links... yet! At this rate... maybe next year?

This is what Im after specifically, so the method Rydian is impossible at this point. However, thanks for trying, looks like Terraria hacking is done for me.
