Trying to modify the amount of gold I have in a scenario, and I think I found the value where it's stored, but when I change it, it changes back to its old value immediately. I've already tried disconnecting from the internet, the problem persists. I have the latest version from Steam, with all the DLC and expansions.

The resources are encrypted with a simple XOR instruction. At least that's how it was in the early versions (I have deleted the game long ago). Look at the table that was made by Recifense.

That table doesn't have a way to change gold. Is there a way to do it directly using Cheat Engine?

You can scan for changed/unchanged values and you will find it.

I found the changed value, but when I try to change it, it changes back. That's the problem.

There are very many changed values. How do I find the right one?

Experiment with them. Change the values, freeze them, see what happens. If you have found the one that is used for the gold, you have your value.

There are hundreds of changed values. That's not very helpful.

Try to compare with your first scan.
Let me say you start scanning with Unknown Initial Value and your displayed gold value is50. Then spent some money scan for changed... do a few rescans with unchanged vvalue sometimes... then play the game a little and get back your amount of gold you had while started scanning and the scan with unchanged value compared to your first scan. This often minimizes your addresses nicely Smile

Tried that. I still have a huge number of addresses where the value is the same.

I'm not looking to pursue game hacking as a hobby, I only want to change the resource values, but if it's this difficult, I might as well not bother.
