Ugh, I'm tired of seeing Android based "Gaming devices" like this and the ouya. Until actual, big game developers end their Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo partnerships and move over to android(read: never) there will be no real draw to them.
Edit: I mean, nothing against indie devs, but indie games and endless iterations of fart buttons and match 3 games won't get me to pay 350 or even 100 in the case of ouya

misconception: there are only indy games in the android marketplace
there are big games too, just a few but there are.
also, there are sony certified games for android.

it streams games from nvidias grid, making it less likely to become shit over time , which was the problem with the ouya, is by the time it came out it was obsolete, because hardware is moving so fast, nvidia creates that hardware, so its logical that they make a unit themselves, especially since AMD has a monopoly over next gen consoles
its going to be shit tho

To be fair, the Ouya got a whole new market just because of the specifications. The processor is a quad core Tegra 3, which although only 1.6 - 1.7 GHz, is still doing pretty good in comparison to the competition. There's still a large amount of tablets running at a single GHz. Most systems running what this is would cost at least $230 from what I've seen- don't quote me on this, though. And I've been looking in to it and it's getting a high level of support from Nvidia, who're planning to push it to the top of it's capabilities. I see it as a considerable product for the price, so I'm going to throw some money at it for use with my new TV.
The Nvidia shield is supposed to carry a Tegra 4, so the price shift from $99 to $350 was expected. Not worth comparing the products, since most T4 have more power than the Exynos 5250 by a landslide, and it was superior to the T3 by miles.
