I have problems with my second HDD. Its a WD320GB.
I have a WD80GB for my OS, and the WD320GB is for storage. I have bought a Hitachi1TB and would like to transfer my files there.
Problems of WD320GB
1. It is detected in the BIOS
2. If connected to the PC, boot freezes in the windows logo (win7)
3. If I disconnect the drive when it freezes, it boots successfully
4. OS boots fine if it is not connected
4. If i connect it after boot, it is not shown in My Computer and Disk Management

I have something similar to this and if I were you, this is how I would try to connect my harddrive to the computer and get stuff off of it.

| Thanks, I've transferred my files now. Does this mean that the hard drive is dying and I should not use it anymore?

This may be pointless but is it IDE or SATA?
If it's IDE it could be the jumper settings throwing it off.
You can also go to the Western Digital site (Seagate now) and download their drive application and it should give you a health report on the drive if it is detected by the computer al all.

i would refrain from putting important files on it. try with like video files and see if it works properly.
