I'm just wondering how this "pieces" effect was done. I tried Googling it but I'm pretty sure I'm not using the right terms.

I'm sure it's just a few rectangle masks, drop shadow, and a border.
Photoshop should make it incredibly easy to do.

To make a clipping mask you put the picture above whatever you want to clip it into and you press CTRL+ALT+G. Not sure Mac wise.

Yeah I knew Photoshop could do that(I saw one of I think S3NSA's photo edits), I was asking if the same method applied could create the same effect I was looking. Anyways, I only use the simple tools like adjusting the colors and lighting.. I've been wanting to expand more of what I know.

Are you looking to do this manually? There could be a program or script that does this automatically due to its simplicity.
