As some of you may know, I have two cats. Boy and girl. The girl just had kittens, and the boy has gone mad.
The boy gotten into a gore fight last month and gotten bad wounds. Soon after he started running away for a day and come back a day. He still does that now. Then, about a week later he started getting mad at the girl cat alot and hiss. But it didn't seem like he had rabies because he still let me pet him and pur and stuff. About a week ago he started whining and getting a bit aggressive with me and the kittens. Well now he returned to eat today after about three days of being missing. His tounge was hanging out of his mouth and appeared to be foaming. I can pretty much confirm it now that he has rabies. I don't know what to do though. I know the good old cat that I love is still inside him. If I take him to the vet they will put him down.
I am very sad...

I don't think he will, but everytime I get near him I make sure that I am showing no skin besides my neck and face so he can't bite though my skin if he ever does.
And Ive made sure that the kittens and the girl cat are away from him, by putting them in the garage, and sometimes in the house.

Ive never taken them to the vet at all, not even for shots. I think not going to vet is what caused it... but I'm not going though. It's just too much money for something I can do myself.
Ive read up on it for an hour now. He has a slow progressing version of it. He should be dieing anywhere from now and two weeks. He is one of the most mellow cats Ive ever had.
He hasn't tried biting me. I will leave cat food out and he will just growl and run away like he's scared, not mad, which is a bit different than what Ive been reading up on. I think he still is maintaining sanity and he's fighting to keep his personality.
I really don't want to kill him, but I know how miserable he is, but I think I have too. Ive searched for any cures and all theoretical and not proven.
I would post a picture but he gets scared/mad and runs away if I get close.

I don't know man, but I am not doing that.
He only comes back to my house like once ever few days to eat, which it is really hard to get him to come close when he does.

He was a really good cat... He would always sit with me and sleep on my lap while I listened to music and stuff.
He was a great hunter too. He caught moles and wasn't ever afraid of anything. He once killed a possum because it was trying to eat out of his food bowl. But I think his courage is what got him sick, and it is my fault too by not giving an outside cat his shots. I will miss him greatly. He was a good friend...
