Xen0r/potaters, you mentioned a coupe weeks back that you were purchasing gold in order to convert your LR funds to something nice (cosmetically) & capable of retaining value until you're ready to simply walk to a local exchange and turn the gold into physical cash.

I was hoping I could ask for some assistance in doing the same. I'm not very familiar with bullion/currency exchanging, but my main question is, how much would the extra charge be when purchasing online?

Where ever the gold is purchased, the price has to be marked up even by just a little bit in order for the selling company to profit, correct?

My main plan is to bankwire my LR to my local bank, but having a gold seems neat too.

Also, can gold even be purchased with LR? Or is there more to it than that?

Also, does it really matter where the gold was made? I just looked at these prices:

Is gold simply gold? As in 1oz of it = NYSE price? If I bring it in to an exchange, wouldn't they simply weigh the piece of metal to determine the it's worth?

https://www.instantvirtualcreditcards.com/

It's actually 100% legitimate. I ordered and you really do just get the card info, register it to your name and address and use it.

You can't say how much the extra charge would be really seeing as it fluctuates daily.

This looks pretty neat, although the mark up is quite high, don't you think? Buying $100 for $117 + 4% service charge. I can imagine that it'd be really useful for teenagers that want to make Paypal payments, but I'm nearly of age to grab my own credit card legitimately. Aren't you as well?

The only thing that confuses me is pricing of the different manufacturers. 2oz of gold should equal a standard amount based on the NYSE in my belief.

But thanks for showing this site to me :]

I think the mint does matter in some cases. Most people stick to pamp/credit suisse with the signature. As it is the most widely accepted. I linked to the VCC site because LR to Paypal/CC is usually an awful idea, well online currency ex changers is usually what I try to stay away from since there is a high chance of it going bad, especially with Paypal. But yeah, I'm 17 now, 18 in a few months.

Stuff like this is why I'm never getting a credit card. It's a stupid system and I won't support it.

Why do you need a credit card to purchase something like this? I just have a debit card and I don't see the point...

I don't know if you're serious but I am pretty sure my bank gives me protection with debit cards as well. Money transactions from bank account to bank account as well, they can just transfer it back.

Wikipedia wrote:
Consumer protection

Consumer protections vary, depending on the network used. Visa and MasterCard, for instance, prohibit minimum and maximum purchase sizes, surcharges, and arbitrary security procedures on the part of merchants. Merchants are usually charged higher transaction fees for credit transactions, since debit network transactions are less likely to be fraudulent. This may lead them to "steer" customers to debit transactions. Consumers disputing charges may find it easier to do so with a credit card, since the money will not immediately leave their control. Fraudulent charges on a debit card can also cause problems with a checking account because the money is withdrawn immediately and may thus result in an overdraft or bounced checks. In some cases debit card-issuing banks will promptly refund any disputed charges until the matter can be settled, and in some jurisdictions the consumer liability for unauthorized charges is the same for both debit and credit cards.

In some countries, like India and Sweden, the consumer protection is the same regardless of the network used. Some banks set minimum and maximum purchase sizes, mostly for online-only cards. However, this has nothing to do with the card networks, but rather with the bank's judgement of the person's age and credit records. Any fees that the customers have to pay to the bank are the same regardless of whether the transaction is conducted as a credit or as a debit transaction, so there is no advantage for the customers to choose one transaction mode over another. Shops may add surcharges to the price of the goods or services in accordance with laws allowing them to do so. Banks consider the purchases as having been made at the moment when the card was swiped, regardless of when the purchase settlement was made. Regardless of which transaction type was used, the purchase may result in an overdraft because the money is considered to have left the account at the moment of the card swiping.

I don't think you cared enough to read that but it says the same thing the sources I provided say.
120 days to make your claim. Rules vary from bank to bank but there is at least some protection but you might need to be a bit more persistent than with credit cards.

Bit more persistent. Worth it if your time has no value. Why make life difficult for yourself when you can just use a credit card? Much like you, your logic is braindead

If you still 'don't see the point', you're stupid beyond what I thought was naturally possible
