How do I cheat?

So i'm new to cheat engine and i tried to inject a dll but when i clicked inject dll my CE just closes on itself.. please help

wich version of ce are you using ?
perhaps the dll does not say anything to the game and therefore ce crashes.
i have tried the function of dll injection myself and it works pretty well.
using ce 6.1 and 6.2
