Microsoft's new "experimental" social networking site: http://www.so.cl/#
Check out my other thread about Google to get what I'm going at.
HOW TERRIBLE IS THIS? What do you guys think? I personally dislike it, because it's nothing unique. Facebook was, with its feed and app system. This and Google+ and however many to come are just copying each other!

Geocities
Livejournal
Friendster
Tribe
MySpace
LinkedIn
All came before Facebook, and before that people actually socialized instead of pretending to online.

True, but Facebook is/was unique and that's why it was/is so successful. Google+ to me is just a copy of Facebook and Twitter, with a few extra features and a different UI layout.
Also I might have been wrong about MS' new social network, however, after logging in and seeing the "news feed" (Facebook), "video chat" (Google+), "followers" (Twitter), who knows. I find having to have all of these accounts (Microsoft Account, Google Account, Facebook Account, Twitter Account, etc.) gets annoying. I think MS and GO need to leave social networking be. Gosh look at Google, they're copying so much. Android is basically a cheaper, open-source iPhone, Google Drive is basically Dropbox, etc. Same with MS Skydrive
Competition is good, but not at the price of where there really isn't any. 900 million users on Facebook, how many on Google+? Lol. THIS SHIT CRAY.

How exactly? It does the exact same crap as all the other websites did. It just had a very easy interface so even the dumbest morons could use it (i.e. most of the Facebook populates) then word-to-mouth spread it.

News Feed, simpler interface, the API's, the way it does/did apps, geolocation stuff, notifications, etc... And I'm assuming you don't have one because of how you worded your example. The point is it did something right, otherwise it wouldn't be the giant it is today. No other social networking site can touch Facebook, not even Twitter. It even had one the largest IPO in all of history. Now I can see other companies wanting to be as successful, but copying Facebook, changing the layout and adding/tweaking a few new features isn't going to do that. I'm glad Apple isn't yet jumping on the bandwagon, at least it can stay intuitive.
@above: Yeah. They say it's more like a social network to share to other social networks, but I think this is another thing Microsoft needs to sit out, the same with Google.

Welcome to the world. Things get better by companies using the same ideas and adding onto them. If things weren't done that way, most of what we have today wouldn't exist. Not that I am a fan of any of the social media sites, but they only exist because of other sites prior to them.

Microsoft had been using a "Similar" social networking approach with its Hotmail service. It isn't far off to think they would take it one step further. Seems rather silly to go out and create this new service when Google's has done so poorly.
We already see Social networking in our games. Won't be long before we got "Tweet this!" in movie theatres.

It's already happened. Some movie theaters and broadway places have sections where phones/devices are allowed for the sole purpose of tweeting while the show is going on.

Agreed.
If this MS thing is any good, i will definitely use it. The only reason i use fb is because almost everyone uses it and with some people its the sole method of communication with them over the inet.
G+ failed because i think it was plain boring. It wasn't offering anything new. FB on other hand was offering a lot and easier to use like someone else said than myspace so it made big.
