I'm on a 400 bucks budget, because the u.s. charges me 20%+ or so in taxes + shipping to mexico.
Ideas? I mainly care for metro 2033, fuck bf3, I just MIGHT play it, but dunno.
Also, anything cheaper than tigerdirect?'Edit:

Gaise, i get a nice tax and shipping in this, so cost*performance wisethe i5 is out of the question.
What about the fx-4170? it's a 4.2ghz version of the 3.6ghz fx-4100, not saying clock is everything, just saying.

If you think so, ok. If you knew anything about gaming needs you would know between an i5 and any Phenom II x4 or better cpu, they all do the same. Unless he plans to do something else.

If that were true, why is there a difference in FPS when you have the same set up? AMD has flopped for the last few generations in CPUs. I'd rather have a CPU that performs better in games and virtually every other application than have one that is mediocre in games and horrible in every other application. But hey, that's just me.

I had a 965 and had it at 3.8 and it did just fine until I started streaming at 1080p and it started to struggle.

imo AMD and ATI are budget buys.
Intel and Nvidia are better.
OP might want to go with AMD and ATI stuff.
