Ok so say I have a movie that's mkv.
I just want to make gifs out of clips from it, but I have to convert it first since nothing edits mkv, which means I have to sit there and wait for 2 hours of video to convert, which usually ends up in a crash, or isn't allowed without upgrading to premium
See my dilemma?
Also it's the same quality and size as avi so I really don't see the point in it.

Xilisoft can convert to .mp4 for Photoshop. I see no quality loose because the image is now smaller, like it needs to be anyway.

Because your laptop is ass. Xilisoft uses cuda/amd app so if you have a gfx card it will boost the conversion process and take less time. Feels good man. I converted a hour long japanese porno in 5 minutes in a format my phone can play a little easier. Quality is good, and the file shrunk 300 - 400mb.

See above, that requires trimming, which can't be done to a mkv.
