Cheat Engine

Can someone kindly teach me? I tried to use it on a DOS game call Flame Dragon Knights, but I can't find the process on the list. Am I suppose to use process watcher on the game?

Been awhile since I have hacked a DOS game.. I believe it shows up as the command prompt (cmd.exe)

I used VDMSound to play the game, does that affect cheat engine or the values in the game? Like encoded by the emulation, harder to find, pointed to different places, or game froze when switch windows (ctrl+tab)? Because I search the money value in the game, changed in the game, but did not change in cheat engine.

in normal dos for windows target ntvdm.exe and set as region 0 to ffffffff
no idea for vdmsound, perhaps the same or a vdm like process. not sure if there the memory starts at 0 as well

by set region from 0 to ffff, do you mean to choose "all" at "memory scan options"? if so, i tried it, won't work. I even checked "also scan read only memory". could it be the difference of value type? I had it on 4byte.

what i know is that the game maybe not really running on the "real dos". command prompt is an emulation of dos for xp, even the game is loaded, the program we are targeting is not really the game, it's the command prompt itself. that's probably why i cannot locate the addresses of the game.....i don't know, that's just an assumption of mine.

I tried to use a printscreen tool to capture snapshots of the game, the tool also support capturing dos game snapshots, but the outcome(picture that i have captured while in the game window.) was a snapshot of the command prompt (the window, the black background with white words command on it).That's where my assumption comes from.

Have you ever hacked a dos game using cheat engine? I really want to figure out a way to do so. if you could, please help me. below is the game's download link, the password to open the rar file, and a save of mine ( so you can be in the shop right away without going through the battle first and begin search the gold value asap). i am sorry that the game is in chinese, but it's not complicated, you will know where to load or save or to buy stuff and the gold value. that's all. thank you so much if you are willing to help me out here.

lol simply choosing 16 bit scanning works for me at dos games Laughing

or if it wont works for u then try gamewiz32 its another memory scanning app but its too simple for good hacking but it may works for dos games
