Hey guys,
I just started doing code injection, I was trying to pull code inject into the instruction memory for what i think is the same function which adds gold and lumber.

mov [eax+78],edx

So i guess if i just:

add [eax+78],100

I should start accumlating gold with each transaction?
Assuming eax is the base pointer to the game thread i guess? and +78 is the offset for gold parameter?

What actually happens: Is I did this in dota, and I think something overflowed. and the time parameter got messed up. And coincidently, in all random mode, I would get a new hero every 10 seconds and their attack dmg was like 300(quite high compared to others).

Probably your code is accessing to other values too...
Find non-shared codes.

Well, I was just playing around with code injection and trying to learn. But I did notice that when attempting to do this over LAN, it just disconnects the user on the other side from what I think would be the internal CRC check.

Although I was thinking of doing this over LAN to a friend for lolz.


Thanks for your reply Geri, I think i may know what has gone wrong sorta...

It seems like wc3 has one function which handles all the client sided transactions, which contains the line(below) which writes to values such as lumber,gold and population.

mov [eax+78], edx

I assumed that [eax+78] would be a pointer with an offset to the gold, but it seems like they just change the eax register( which means its the first argument for a function) to select for gold,lumber,etc and it has the same offset of 78.

I guess i could customize this function to compare [eax+78]'s value if it is smaller than 100 to not change it. and just play the game with having the minimum amount of gold as 10 lol.

it's not an internal crc check, it syncs with all other players, for example, your money, it's being synced with all other players, when your money gets out of sync with the values held by the other players, it will disconnect you. so it's impossible for hacking either lan or multiplayer for wc3.
