The 6870 is right around the 200 mark, and that's ridiculously more powerful than the 4850.

My case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=11-154-102&nm_mc=EMCA-072810-vB&cm_mmc=EMCA-072810vA-_-content-_-Item-_-11-154-102

Will that card fit? Looks damn massive.

Edit: Won't fit, I'll find a bigger case too I suppose. Suggestions?

Card's length is 10.3" long.
Use a measuring tape or ruler to measure the inside of your case-from I/O slot to where it touches the HDD bays.
If the HDD is in the way, it protrudes out about a inch.

for another 40 bucks you can get a 6950. It would show significant differences between it and the 6870.

This is smaller, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604&cm_re=gtx_560_ti-_-14-130-604-_-Product

Currently, it is $229 before the rebate, you can see the price in your cart. With the rebate, it comes down to $209, although the offer expires at the end of the month.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150523&cm_re=6950-_-14-150-523-_-Product

This has the same price after rebate, but has a lower rating, and is still pretty long.

This is the nVidia response to the HD 6870 if you're more into one manufacturer over another.

According to hardwarecanucks the GTX 560 has a 1% performance increase over the HD 6870, which isn't very significant.

Temps, power consumption and acoustics for that card is also significantly lower than the HD 6870.

I believe the one in that link is slightly factory overclocked, but the nice cooling system on it allows for pretty decent overclocking down the road.

Edit - Found a better card, the GTX 560 Ti for $190 after rebate.

It's $230 before rebate though, so if you are really strapped for cash, then just go with the HD 6870 or the GTX 560 imo.
