Mac mini with a Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHZ, 1 GB ram, and w/ a very fast and reliable internet connection. Completely dedicated to the task, doing nothing but running the server software.
Edit: I think I can add another gigabyte. What then?

| It'd run pretty bad, Core 2 Duo is not a quad core and it would handle a server very badly. Plus you have a low clock. At least a C2Q with 4GB of ram for a dedi server. You can try it, but I doubt it'd be lag free. It would probably only handle like 5 people MAX |

nah, ex-craft server I had running on a crappy 2ghz, 2gb ram comp had around 10 people on ok with no lag whilst I was downloading some crap and playing a small bit, however I agree, that's not good enough if you want 10+ people on at once, also get a windows or linux build instead cheaper, easier and faster management. |

CPU and GPU don't really matter, RAM does. |

CPU does matter, what if you had a PENTIUM D @ 999Mghz with 32GB of ram. You think a server would run smooth on THAT? |

You said CPU does not matter, I made an example of something with a terrible cpu but with shitload of ram. You can't run a MC server without a decent CPU. You said it doesn't matter, I proved you wrong. That's my point. |
