well ive had a external hard drive for a few years and 1 day i just opend it and a Windows - no disk error appeard and it also blocked Task manager and regedit ( it says it been blocked by admin and i am admin -_-) i can still open programs from the harddrive and stuff , also its not my computers fault because i tested it on another pc Sad
can any 1 help me?

Sounds like you have a virus. Malwarebytes, get.

hmm ok , but i used antoher external harddrive of mine and the same message appears so did i have another virus on that aswell ?

No its more like a virus on the pc, not the external.

Oh well, idk. If you plugged the Internal into 1 pc, it could have spread into it and into the other pc too.

Would help to know OS, external drive manufacturer, and if you could give a brief list of what processes are currently running, would go a long way to getting the problem sorted out for you.

I had this same error some time ago on a Seagate external, the issue in that case turned out to be a faulty housing (actually wasn't the housing but the electronics inside it). Your case may be different, as Hero stated you should not really see Taskmanager and Regedit blocked though.

You probably spread the virus onto both external hard drives, both of your computers and your friend's computer.

i'm on xp home edition it used to be windows vista home and the external hard drives are both Segate and one is very new


Genuine intel(R) CPU T1600 @1.66GHz
