hey guys I am trying to install windows xp on my dell insperon 1720 but the DVD drive doesn't work so I am using a USB stick (4GB) I am trying to install windows XP (there is no OS on it right now) the system came with Vista (lol) I made a bootable copy of the xp disk on the USB drive but when I am at the blue screen after it loads some of the installer things I get a error
If you are replacing the OS of a computer with VISTA installed, you may have a PCI-E slot on your motherboard.
If that is the case, Windows XP SP2 is required to support that hardware. Windows XP or WinXP SP1 can not support it and that's why you're getting the error.
