dont know why you would need that level of sorting, the previous version did fine you could create groups etc.
I only sort by online or offline anyways though so nothing good has really came out of this

I have too many contacts the way it now place my contacts in many columns instead of just 1 now helps a lot. also the Facebook chat integration helped me a lot.
personally I didn't use facebook at all but some ppl just stopped using MSN and used only the facebook chat.... I started using facebook then but since I installed the MSN 2011 it saved me the trouble of getting on facebook all the time.

You could have made custom columns.
didn't know there was facebook chat integration, i dont use it but you do so it sounds like it helps.
