Idk why my parents thought they were good. We're using Suddenlink. After talking to my parents about hosting a server from home, we decided to look into how our ISP would take that, so we looked at the ToS and they say you can't host servers for anything. As well as a bunch of other shit restrictions. Which means that Minecraft server I was hosting was breaking our ISP's ToS.
So, we started looking at other ISPs to see if we could find something that allowed it.
Every single ISP we've found has offered cheaper prices and better specs for the Phone+Internet bundle. And, they don't care if you host a server.
However, the only good one we found that works in our area is AT&T, so that's what we're switching to. They offer $50 per month while SuddenLink offers over $60 per month on the bundle. They offer better internet speeds. PLUS, AT&T plants the wires underground, whereas SuddenLink just hangs it on our phone-line. To make things better, they don't care what you do with the service, no restrictions.

| I have AT&T U-verse with the Internet+Phone+TV, it's probably the best way to go now. People usually choose AT&T or Comcast for high-speed. The AT&T U-verse package comes with a box for every TV and has an HDMI port on the back, including a female Ethernet port which is good if you're far away from a router.

| I'm confused, how do they check if you have a server at home? Using a P2P network alone would constitute as having a server at home, since you are hosting files for others to download. If they check for ports, just change them.

To be honest, I don't know. But if they don't allow it, then why take the risk? Especially when we can get a cheaper service.
