Dual core with 8GB RAM and a good video card? Why not just get a quadcore and 4-6GB?

if you're gaming, 8gb is overkill
grab 4-6gb, if possible quad core
then a diety-tier gpu than a kickass one

Obviously 8GB is better than 4-6GB, but I value processing power over the amount of RAM. 4GB is already enough anyway.

Oh I see, well 8gb is useful when you play on reaaally big maps in like tf2 or gmod.
I think there's a big city map for gmod that requires 4gb of ram...

I was told multiple times that quadcore is overkill for even gaming computers.

List is outdated. The 460 isn't on it, and thats the best mid ranged gfx card currently.
