Im making another build and, am kinda on a budget. I want the Phenom II 965 X4 as my processor. I can either get a 5830 as a video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150481, OR i can get this bunde, which includes the Phenom + Asus Crosshair IV Mobo. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.405950 (Also get STALKER for free)

I do already have a mobo, but its not as good. As for the video card, IF i get the asus mobo, i can use my current 4850 & maybe buy another 4850 and crossfire the two, OR i could use the single 4850 and just get a 5830/50/70 later. So should i get a mobo or a new gpu? Thanks for the help Very Happy

What cpu do you have now and will your ram work in this motherboard? If not you need ram too.

2 4850s will use ridiculous amounts of power, so I wouldn't recommend going for that setup. I would recommend you try to buy a 5850.
All you're paying for in the crosshair is the full bandwidth dual crossfire, and triple 16 8 8. 8x versus 16x makes very, very little difference. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_5870_PCI-Express_Scaling/1.html
If you want the option to crossfire, get a board with 8x8x crossfire, it simply doesn't make a noticeable difference.

@ Hero i have the anthlon II x2. And as for ram, I have 1333 DDR3 Ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148262
That should work on this mobo right? & just for the heck of it, this is my current mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157161

@ Ph0x I guess your right. Im probably going to just get the cpu & and new gpu. This is what i had in mind. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150481 (5830) Would that be good enough? Think you can find a better one thats umm under 270ish.

Your putting money where isn't not suppose to be.
Since you already have a Athlon II X2, you can do is just upgrade the CPU and add a better video card.

Go with a AMD Athlon II X4 (it's quad and cost less than $99 to boot).

CFX is for marketing gimmick, unless you don't have a high-res screen (1920x1200+) using CFX is useless.

This, might as well Enjoy microshuttering, driver problems, power draw, etc if you really want to crossfire that bad on low resolution monitor(s)

Still good, and it comes with MW2 free. When I got mine the 620 was 99 bucks. If this one wasn't 150 I would have the 3.0ghz version. I have the 2.6 cheapo though.

For a 5830 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=5830&x=0&y=0

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103702 is the most popular Athlon II x4, and it's indeed 99 bucks. It's funny that except for the 640, all of the athlon II x4s cost the same amount. And they have been the same amount for a good long while. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006519%2050001028%2040000343%20600005580&IsNodeId=1&name=Athlon%20II%20X4

He could get the 2.9. Prices just all seemed to fall into under 100 after I got my 620. Buyers remorse. But if he wants the MW2, for the extra 20 bucks he cuts off 30 bucks from mw2 price and gets a cpu with .1ghz more speed :s
