You have to dig pretty deep + be fucking lucky to find Diamond. Also, playing peaceful mode I'd assume?

If you ever plan on moving up in difficulty, never fucking try Hard mode. Seriously, don't do it. Even with diamond swords n shit, I get SWARMED WITH FUCKING SKELETONS/ZOMBIES/SPIDERS/CREEPERS/ETC. Haven't really tried Easy or Normal yet though. I normally like exploring caverns at my own free will on peaceful* anyways ;(.
